Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful set of vintage solid 18ct yellow gold earrings, each featuring a pear-cut colour-change alexandrite and bearing Egyptian hallmarks. The quality is very good throughout, with the earrings hallmarked to the posts and touch-marked in several places throughout. There are a couple of discrete and stable stress marks to the gold frames, as per photos. One stone has an internal fracture at the reverse which has likely been with it since setting (refer photo 8). The colour of the stones change from green-blue to purply-blue depending on the lighting conditions. A stunning set of Egyptian revival earrings for the collection.
The stones measures approximately 13mm x 10mm with an estimated total weight of 10.5cts, with the earrings having a total drop of 24mm. Unpacked, the set weighs in at a respectable 5.78gms.
Due to the internal processors of digital cameras, the green-blue state of alexandrite is notoriously difficult to accurately photograph without the red hues appearing. Although not shown in the photos above, the stone does possess this colour change characteristic.
