Here today for your consideration we have this superb Art Deco solid 14ct yellow gold platinum-fronted bar brooch, bearing the city letter of Vienna Austria, c-1920. The brooch features a total of six princess-cut natural vibrant blue sapphires with three old European cut diamonds set in a single bar, being of very good quality throughout. Condition is reasonably good used, with a couple of fleabites to some sapphires visible only under a jewellers loupe. The solid gold pin holds good tension within the catch, with the brooch free from engraving. The brooch is partially hallmarked with no purity stamp visible, however has been tested as solid 14ct gold and platinum and is guaranteed as such. A most attractive early 20th century European brooch of good quality manufacture.
The sapphires measure 2.5mm - 3.00mm square and have an estimated total weight of 0.60cts, with the diamonds having diameters of 2.2mm - 2.7mm and having an estimated total weight of 0.17cts. The bar measures 60mm long and 3.5mm at the centre, with the brooch weighing in at 4.29gs unpacked.
