Here today for your consideration we have this very nice Edwardian solid 9ct yellow gold brooch, made by Aronson & Co of Melbourne, c-1900. The brooch features a bloomed gold finish with central round-cut natural amethyst and applied flower decoration, being of very good quality throughout. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note (some minor distortion to the fine goldwork in some places, no losses evident). The pin holds good tension within the catch, with the brooch hallmarked to the verso. The amethyst is free from chips or facet wear, with the claws complete and without loss. A most beautiful turn of the century Australian gold brooch for the collector.
The amethyst has a diameter of 12mm and has an estimated weight of 5.50cts, with the brooch measuring 57mm long and weighing in at 5.89gms unpacked.
