Here today for your consideration we have this fantastic Edwardian boxed set of six demitasse cups and saucers, having sterling silver cup holders by William Comyns & Sons Ltd of Birmingham, c-1901 and egg shell china inserts and saucers by Crown Staffordshire in design number 179250. The set includes six coffee cans with silver holders and six saucers, each having matching detail throughout. The egg shell china is richly decorated in gilt floral netting, with the holders featuring floral and cherub detail with dragon handles. The quality is very good throughout, with the holders of good gauge and the pattern beautifully executed. Condition is reasonable for their age, with two cups having chips and cracks and some pieces having some clean and fine crazing. The silver holders are without loss, with the cartouches unengraved and the hallmarks well struck throughout. The original fitted box is a little shabby with one clasp partially absent, but the other clasp and hinges working as intended. A most wonderful turn of the century English coffee set embellished with richly decorated china and finely produced sterling silver.

The saucers have diameters of just over 11cm, with the cups standing about 6.5cm tall and having diameters of 5cm at the rims. The boxed set weighs in at 1,724gms, with the sterling silver cup holders accounting for 162gms of this.
