Here today for your consideration we have this wonderful Edwardian solid 15ct yellow gold photograph locket, made by H. Simonsen Pty Ltd of Melbourne, c-1915. The locket is of truncated rectangular form with twin viewing windows internally, featuring a natural oval-cut ruby in a diamond shaped setting to the front cover. The quality is very good throughout, with the locket of very nice style and proportion. Condition is good used, with a few bruises to the gold in places but no splits or losses. The ruby is without facet wear or fracture, with the locket snapping shut nicely. The pendant is free from engraving, with the hallmarks in good order. A fine quality gold locket with a precious natural ruby from a reputable Australian jeweller of the early 20th century.
The ruby measures 4mm x 3.5mm and has an estimated weight of 0.22cts. The pendant (excluding jump ring) measures 36m x 23mm. Unpacked, it weighs in at a respectable 10.95gms.
