Here today for your consideration we have this fantastic Victorian solid 9ct yellow gold brooch, made by Arthur Johnson Smith of Chester, c-1897 or 1899. The brooch takes the form of a butterfly and is studded with seventeen (17) Old-European cut paste stones in claw settings, being of good quality throughout. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. The gold is nicely toned in places, with the metal pin nicely held within the catch. The brooch is free from engraving, with the hallmarks in good order. A most attractive late 19th century English insect brooch in solid gold.
The brooch measures 34mm x 16mm across the face and weighs in at 2.65gms unpacked.
