Here today for your consideration we have this fantastic Georgian sterling silver salt cellar, made by David Hennell I of London, c-1745. The cellar is of cauldron shape with three figural lion styled feet complete with fitted cobalt blue glass liner, being of very good quality and gauge throughout. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. The salt features a near-faded crest to one facing, with the hallmarks about 70% overall. A most attractive mid 18th century salt cellar from a master silversmith of the era.
The cellar stands 4.5cm tall and has an overall diameter of 7cm. Unpacked, it weighs in at 141gms in total, with the silver accounting for a generous 97gms of this.
