Here today for your consideration we have this superb Georgian sterling silver bread or cake basket, made by John Wakefield of London, c-1814. This wonderful piece features a deep central bowl and swing handle, with understated gadrooning and bright-cut border with floral and leaf themes. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. The bowl features a shallow inscription to the centre, with the hallmarks about 80% overall (starting to fade). A very fine and practical piece of early 19th century sterling silver for the collection.
The basket stands 10cm tall to the rim and 23cm tall to the top of handle. Across the rim, it measures 28.5cm x 24cm. Unpacked, it weighs in at a very respectable 715gms.
