Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful early Victorian sterling silver hot water pot, made by William Bateman & Daniel Ball of London, c-1839. The pot is of melon shape and stands atop a pierced plinth base, with bright cut floral detail through and finishing in a cast trumpet flower finial. The quality is exceptional, with the teapot of very good proportion and gauge. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. The handle pins and handle have some minor movement, but are stable and not at risk of loss. The teapot features an incredibly detailed crest to one face, with the hallmarks about 90% overall. An impressive and versatile mid 19th century English sterling silver teapot from a very good silversmith partnership.
The pot stands 24.5cm tall and measures 18cm handle-to-spout. It has a comfortable capacity of 1,550ml and pours well. Unpacked, it weighs in at a respectable 982gms.
