Here today for your consideration we have this lovely early Victorian sterling silver christening mug, made by Joseph Angell I & Joseph Angell II of London, c-1840. The mug stands atop four acanthus-leaf feet and features extensive bright cut detail and remnant gilding to the interior, being of very good quality and gauge throughout. Condition is good used, with damage limited to a 5mm split at the rim near the handle and a couple of very minor bruises. The mug features a well executed monogram and crest to one side, with the hallmarks about 90% overall. A most attractive mid 19th century sterling silver cup for the collection,
The mug stands 9.5cm tall and has a diameter of 6.5cm at the rim. It has a comfortable capacity of 200mls, and weighs in at 132gms unpacked.
