Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful early Victorian sterling silver-handled three-piece fruit serving set, made by John Gilbert of Birmingham, c-1862-1869. The set includes a serving knife and serving fork (sterling handles; Old Sheffield Plate blades and tines) and a set of grape scissors (Old Sheffield Plate), each with matching design and hallmarks throughout. Condition is good used, with the silver plate in very good order throughout (some wear sharpening to scissor blades evident), and the sterling silver handles without serious damage. The set is without monogram or crest, with the hallmarks clearly struck throughout. The box is quite shabby and separated, but the interior is in good order. A very good quality set for the collection.
The knife and fork measure 29cm and 22cm long respectively, with the boxes set weighing in at 557gms unpacked.
