Here today for your consideration we have this sensational pair of Victorian sterling silver trophy chalices, made by J B Carrington of Birmingham, c1879. Both trophies have been presented to R M Massey on behalf of the Edgbaston Crusaders Football Club in 1880, celebrating the winning of the 100 and 120 yards handicap. Condition is good used to both, with damage limited to a couple of minor depressions and a few discrete pinpricks here and there. The gilded interior is superb and bright to both, with the engraving masterfully executed on both. This truly is an amazing pair of trophies for the serious collector.
The 100 yard trophy stands 26cm tall and has a diameter of 13cm at the rim. The 120 yard trophy stands 23.5cm tall and has a diameter of 12cm at the rim. Unpacked, they weigh in at 499gms and 378gms (877gms combined).
