Here today for your consideration we have this superb Victorian sterling silver footed bowl, made by James Dixon & Sons Ltd of Sheffield, c-1894. The bowl features extensive piercing throughout with eight pressed panels of floral and scroll theme, standing atop a simple yet elegant plinth base. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. The bowl is free from monogram or crest, with the hallmarks about 90% overall. Interestingly, information about the size and weight is etched into the underside of the foot, indicating this bowl's potential use as a showroom display or exhibition piece. A very beautiful and high quality sterling silver bowl for the collection.
The bowl has a diameter of 20.5cm (8") at the rim and stands 5.5cm (2 1/4") tall. Unpacked, it weighs in at 216gms.
