Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful Victorian solid 18ct yellow gold pendant locket, featuring a black enamelled horseshoe and internal single viewing window, c-1880. The locket is of oval shape with detailed chasing to both covers, with a period locket of hair included within the cover. Condition is reasonably good used, with some losses to the enamel and some wear to the detail on the covers. The locket is without monogram, engraving or hallmark and has been tested and is guaranteed 18ct gold throughout, with the exception of the jump ring and loop which is metal (often 18ct gold wasn't used for bails and loops as it was too soft and susceptible to breaking). The cover closes tightly and the hinge is in good order. A beautiful 19th century gold mourning locket pendant for the collection.
Excluding the jump ring, the locket measures 25mm x 18mm and weighs in at 4.71gms unpacked.
