Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful Victorian 15ct yellow gold mourning brooch, featuring a removable garnet-set mourning locket, c-1880. This lovely piece is of large proportions with a central bright-cut leaf against a scrolled backdrop. The garnet cabochon drop features a fitted panel to the reverse with of glass frontage. Condition is good used, with no major damage to note. There is some surface disruption around the panel to the rear of the garnet, and this panel is firmly in place. The pin holds some tension, with the catch very securely designed. The brooch is without monogram or hallmark, but has been tested in several spots and is guaranteed 15ct gold (the pin being base metal). A fantastic Victorian brooch of good size.
The garnet measures approximately 13mm x 15mm, with the brooch measuring 6cm deep and 5cm wide overall. Unpacked, it weighs in at a respectable 10.51gms.
