Here today for your consideration we have this superb Victorian solid 9ct yellow gold rivière necklace, made by Webster & Cohen of Melbourne, c-1890. The necklace is of cable chain design and features seven (7) graduating oval cut natural amethysts individually claw set, finishing in a traditional box clasp. The quality is very good throughout, with the stones of consistent colour and beautiful cut, and the chain of nice proportion. Condition is good used, with a discrete feather inclusion to one amethyst and a handful of slightly deficient claws across the suite (each stone securely held - no movement whatsoever). A most attractive 19th century Australian gold and amethyst necklace for the fastidious collector.
The necklace has an overall length of 44cm (17"), with the cable chain measuring 2mm in width. The amethyst measure from 10mm x 14mm up to 13mm x 18mm, and have an estimated total weight of 46.24cts. Unpacked, the piece weighs in at 25.57gms.
